5 Plus Size Baltic Buoyancy Aids

Here at Tri Wetsuit Hire, we have reviewed 5 Plus Size Baltic 50N Buoyancy Aids:

1. Baltic Radial (size 70kg+)

This is a well fitted, comfy and discreet buoyancy aid.

The Radial is a really flexible buoyancy aid with lots of adjustment options, two on each side and on both shoulders and elasticated side sections. It had very good mobility and would be great for paddling.

We also really liked the angled crotch strap!

However this buoyancy aid does come with a price tag at £70

Good for 70-125kg

Available in 2 colours: Red, Black

RRP: £70

Also new for 2023 Baltic have launched the Radial in a new eco version which is made from recycled material - shop here

2. Baltic Aqua Pro (size 90kg+)

The Aqua Pro is an affordable entry level buoyancy aid equipped with a zipper, tie cord and quick release buckle waistband.

We tested the 90kg+ which we think would be ideal for paddlers who weigh 110-170kg.

Even though this buoyancy aid has no crotch strap it still felt really secure.

However we did find the bottom knot fiddly to adjust and the top knot pointless!

Good for 110-170kg

Available in 4 colours: Red, White, Black, Navy Blue

RRP: £35

3. Baltic Paddler (size 70kg+)

We have tested the Paddler buoyancy aid before and it still remains our favourite!

It is comfortable, sits well on the boobs and neckline is spacious.

The Baltic Paddler features an open body and stretchy shoulder straps for freedom of movement when paddling. It also has a really useful front pocket!
Good for 70-125kg

Available in 2 colours: Red, Yellow

RRP: £37.95

4. Baltic Canoe (size 40-130kg)

We don't find this buoyancy aid a very good fit for the larger build! It was uncomfortable, and the crotch strap was badly positioned. We also found the neck was too small!

Available in 3 colours: Yellow, Grey, Red

RRP: £37.95

5. Baltic Slim Pro (size 90kg+)

Despite being called 'Slim' Pro, we were interested to know if it is still any good for the non-slim bodies!

This buoyancy aid is very easy to wear as its very light weight. The back plate is ergonomically designed and the adjustable sides are made of a nice soft neoprene. The entire buoyancy aid is lined with mesh.

Crotch straps can be added as an option and we would recommend that you do add to stop it rising in water.

Good for 90-130kg

Available in 4 colours: Black, Red, White, Grey - reflective

RRP: £70-80

In Summary, if you are between 90kg to 125kg and looking for a buoyancy aid for paddling then our suggestion is to look at the Baltic Paddler. If you are happy to spend a bit more and want extra performance features then check out the Baltic Radial or Slim Pro.

If you weigh between 110 - 150kg and looking for an affordable option then the Aqua Pro is the one. Make sure you avoid the Baltic Canoe!
