Goggle Eyewear FAQs

Here are Tri Wetsuit Hire, when talking goggles with customers we frequently get asked the below 3 questions all the time! So we invited Rosie from Aqua Sphere in for a cup of tea and a chat about goggles and help answer the 3 questions we had.

Goggle Eyewear FAQs contributed by Rosie, Aqua Sphere Sales Manager

1. Goggle vs Mask: what is the difference?

  • Mask less leakly, more protection and better field of vision
  • Goggles preferred by Triathletes looking to be more streamline & efficient in the water

2. Polarized vs Mirrored: what is the difference?

Polarized lenses have not got a mirrored coating and so FILTERS the light rather than REFLECTS the light.

Some people don't like polarised as it can distort vision!

3. How do I apply antifog spray?

  • The most important thing to remember is not rubbing the inside of your goggles as this will almost certainly end up in damage to the lens.
  • Most lenses come with either anti-fog lenses or more commonly an anti-fog coating - this inevitably wears off and will need to be reapplied.  We find that the spray is the best way to go.
  • Spray the anti-fog spray onto the surface of the goggle from a distance of 10cm.  Rinse gently in the water before wearing.
  • Don't forget, fogging can happen when the water is very cold and the swimmer is warm so this may be the cause of fogging.
