YONDA Spectre Wetsuit Review

Fiona from Swim Swim Swim carried out a wetsuit review on the YONDA Spectre

I wore a Womens Medium Tall - I'm 5 "10 (size 12 clothing) and I have to say I thought the sizing and fit was perfect. I often find it difficult to find wetsuits which fit!

This wetsuit has well placed panels:

  • Thicker neoprene in the thighs (2.5mm) and in the torso (4.5mm) provided maximum buoyancy.
  • The thinner neoprene arm and shoulder panels (1.5mm) provided great mobility and extended down the side of the body to below the waist level. The thinner panels gave the wetsuit ultimate mobility and flexibility in the arms, over the shoulders and provided freedom of movement.

The high neck which I don't usually like was really soft & comfortable. There was no flushing through the neck or the zip at the back of the neck.

The seal of the wrist was quite tight to get over the hand but once on was soft, comfortable and prevented any flushing.

The Spectre has the classic pull up zipper. As a Swimmer I much prefer this type of zip vs a breakaway zip found on many Triathlon wetsuits. I was able to get in and out of the wetsuit without assistance.

I personally prefer a wetsuit with very little buoyancy as I often swim / coach breast stroke.  I did find the wetsuit had a little too much buoyancy in the thighs for breast stroke.

I found the wetsuit easy to get on and off - this was due to its smooth lining.

One neat feature which I noticed on the inner lining is that it has 3 cutting trim lines on the inside of the leg - these line can be used as a guide to tailor your wetsuit without damaging the stitching.  A great idea from YONDA!

Overall I was really impressed with the Yonda Spectre! It delivered performance & quality and also was comfortable and a great fit.

The Yonda Spectre is available to buy & hire from Tri Wetsuit Hire in a range of sizes from XS to 4XL
